GMP+ FSA (Feed Safety Assurance) is an international feed safety standard covering the entire supply chain — from the production of feed materials and compound feed, through trade and storage, to transport. Companies implement GMP+, FAMI-QS, EFISC-GTP or QS to document hazard control in feed and to meet the requirements of customers in Europe's animal production sector.

Frequently asked questions

GMP+ FSA (Feed Safety Assurance) is an international feed safety standard covering the entire supply chain: production of feed materials and compound feed, trade, storage and transport. It applies to feed companies that want to sell to customers requiring GMP+ certification, including major animal production networks across Europe.

GMP+ covers a broad spectrum of the feed sector (production, trade, transport, storage), while FAMI-QS is a standard dedicated to producers of feed additives and premixes (specialty feed ingredients). A company that produces both compound feed and additives may need both certificates in parallel.

Implementing documentation and procedures typically takes from a few to several weeks, depending on company size, number of locations and the starting condition of the quality management system. On top of implementation comes the time needed for the certification audit carried out by an independent certification body.

Yes. GMP+ includes a separate module for feed transport and forwarding, with requirements covering, among others, load cleanliness and history, washing procedures and transport documentation. This applies both to transport companies and to hauliers working on behalf of producers and traders.

EFISC-GTP is a feed safety standard focused mainly on trade and storage of feed materials. In practice, some customers accept EFISC-GTP as an alternative to GMP+ for trade and storage — the choice of standard usually depends on the requirements of specific business partners and export markets.

We start with a free conversation and an initial assessment of your current status. We then prepare an implementation plan, support you in creating and updating documentation, run internal training and carry out mock audits ahead of the external certification body's audit.
